Imo State Gov Senator Hope Uzodinma, has showed praises on Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi over his service oriented and impactful representation, saying his pan Imo vision, has elevated him from Owerri Zone Senator to Imo State Senator.
The governor made this declaration at the Owerri North Local Government Area Headquarters, Orie Uratta, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, while commissioning the National Agency for Science and Engineering infrastructure, NASENI Skills Acquisition Centre, equipped with state of the art facilities, attracted by the Senator.
According to the governor who was accompanied by his wife, Barr Chioma Uzodimma, the Senator has attracted meaningful projects and programs like the skills centre, whose benefits are being enjoyed, not just by Owerri Zone, but the entire state, making him deserving of the title of Imo Senator.

The governor described the skills centre as an infrastructure that aligns perfectly with the strategic vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, to equip the country with the capacity to compete in the emerging 4th Industrial revolution. He said the administration is intentionally doing that through investments in infrastructure that drive entrepreneurial, technical and technological skills development and acquisition.
He further lauded him for consistently demonstrating absolute commitment to the vision through sustained funding of agencies like NASENI, which in turn has diligently been channeling the allocated funds to projects that promote the acquisition of these skills, ensuring innovation,entrepreneurship, and job creation. The governor also lauded the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI and his team for their diligence and commitment to building a formidable skills based foundation that would help the country to achieve its aspirations of competing in the coming industrial revolution, and achieving sustainable growth, and progress.
The governor praised the lawmaker for his steadfast and resilient pursuit of the strategic vision of skills acquisition, and empowerment which made the attraction of the commissioned key infrastructure possible. He described it as a prized national asset, that should be fully secured and protected, to ensure the realization of the objectives that necessitated its establishment. He expressed confidence that with the top notch equipment at the facility, Imo youths trained there would become self employed on graduation, and job creators in the future.
Earlier in his address, Senator Onyewuchi had stated that the project conceived by him, and strongly supported by NASENI was attracted to empower people of the zone and state, with skills that would empower them to become meaningfully employed.
He highlighted that his passion and strong belief in skills acquisition as a viable pathway to job creation, and tackling unemployment inspired him to articulate a blueprint anchored on sustainability, which he has executed with consistency and unwavering dedication. He noted that that spirited effort was what made the attraction of the skills acquisition centre which he described as a legacy project that would endure possible, pointing out that before the centre, he had continuously trained and empowered thousands of residents of the zone, and state, stressing that many of the trainees are not just self employed today, but also job creators.
Senator Onyewuchi expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his consistent funding support for NASENI to provide infrastructures that drive national growth and development, even as he applauded Gov Uzodinma for the important role he played in making the project a reality.
He expressed confidence that after training at the centre equipped with state of the art facilities, its graduates would become pace setters in entrepreneurship, and job creation, promising to remain resolutely committed and focused in attracting sustainable,and meaningful infrastructural projects to the zone till his last day in office.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Mr Habib Suleman Halil in his remarks assured that the agency would continue to support the economic diversification and technological advancement agenda of the President Tinubu administration through the provision of infrastructures that equip Nigerians with relevant technical, entrepreneurial, and innovative skills,for self reliance, job creation, employability, and meaningful contribution to national development.
He disclosed that the Owerri Skills Acquisition Centre would serve as a hub for the training of youths from the South East Region in four critical and highly sought after skills, expressing confidence that with the world class facilities at the centre its trainees would become globally competitive on graduation.
He described Senator Onyewuchi as a cerebral, resourceful, and visionary leader who not only played a critical role in the conception of the vision of establishing skills training centres in the country, but has also been deploying the legislative platform to make the initiative a resounding success.
The well attended commissioning of the ultra modern centre, boasting of four departments: Solar Installation and Maintenance, Phone Repair, Fishery/Aqua Culture, and Graphics Design and Printing was witnessed by prominent political and community leaders from within and outside the state, including the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, Imo Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, Deputy Chairman Imo Council of Elders Prince Lemmy Akakam, Chief Henry Njoku, and Chief Justus Oguh, Zonal Chairman, APC Owerri Zone, and traditional rulers of Uratta Clan.
