The Senator representing Imo East Senatorial District and the leader of the Peoples’ Movement, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi visited his maternal home in Ideato North LGA over the weekend where he commissioned a 500KVA Transformer Substation at Ikpa Umukegwu Akokwa, 10,000 Capacity Solar Powered Borehole with Solar Street Lights at Nkwo Hall Umukegwu Akokwa and Solar Street Lights at St Barnabas Catholic Church Akokwa, St Peters Anglican Church Akokwa, Salvation Army Akokwa, Orie Akokwa, Mater Amabilis Hospital Akokwa and Timber Market Akokwa.
He was received on the visit by the LGA Chairman of Ideato North, the councillors, community leaders and traditional rulers across Ideato North LGA who joined their colleagues from Akokwa to welcome their son at the palace of His Royal Highness Eze Kingsley Ifeanyi Anyaoha (Ojukwu III of Umukegwu Akokwa) where a reception was held in his honour before heading to the various project locations for commissioning.
The distinguished Senator who holds the traditional title of Ezinwa Akokwa in his speech praised the transformational leadership of the Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma as he stated that his journey to Akokwa which took him less than 45 minutes would have been a journey of more than two (2) hours before now. He noted that the projects he attracted to the community will help improve the standard and quality of life of the people.
The lawmaker urged the people of Akokwa to ensure that the projects are adequately maintained and protected against vandalization.

In his welcome speech described the event as a historic moment for the community and her people as he poured encomiums on the Senator for remembering his maternal home and also for his pan Imo leadership spirit and vision.
